MissingChildren

for Missing Children's Day, 25 May 2010. Acrylics on canvas 26x20. Made last night for Missing Children's Day coming up on 25 May. There are 3 white dots on the canvas. 1 is nearly not visible anymore.. this one signifies a missed chance to be found. The 2 tiny little eyes look at it sadly (but for some reason, whichever side of the canvas I stand, the little eyes always seem to look at ME!) The other 2 dots are visible.. they are lightpoints, points of hope. And they signify *you* and *me*.
To let us educate all our young about staying safe, be it at home, in school or on the internet. To remember. And to always be alert as to what we see around us. The white dots signify hope.. that maybe one of us, somewhere, somehow, someway.. may help return a child to his parents..

Incidentally.. the centre of this piece is painted over the centre of Mecca.. I'm sure i will try paint that again, that was a wish. In the meantime ~ for me~ it somehow has spiritual importance, that that's where the missing child's head now is on this canvas. Knowing that millions on people were actually turned towards *it*, and in prayer.. And I replaced the black tower.. by the missing child..
